Safety Is Everyone’s Concern! As a commercial driver, it’s essential to transition from winter driving conditions to a season of new challenges. Here are some tips to help commercial drivers get ready for spring:

Beware of Soft Shoulders and Flooding: Stay firmly on paved surfaces whenever possible, especially when parking or pulling over — shoulders can collapse under the weight of your rig.

Mind the Potholes: Winter damage to roads becomes brutally obvious in spring.

Watch Out for Construction Zones: Spring kicks off the start of roadwork season. Always slow down early and obey posted speed limits. Fines are often doubled in construction zones.

Allergy and Fatigue Awareness: Keep windows closed when pollen is high, and use a high-quality truck cabin air filter. Over-the-counter meds should be non-drowsy.

Wildlife on the Move:  Animals are active after winter, especially at dawn and dusk (right when you’re often on the road heading east). Be extra vigilant in rural areas — deer, moose, and even migrating birds can suddenly cross highways.
