When booking LTL (Less Than Truckload) or Truckload move with Ippolito Transportation, “ready time” refers to the earliest time the freight is fully prepared and available for pickup by the driver. It’s the time when the shipment can be loaded without delay. To assist shippers, here is a checklist of what must be done before the driver arrives:
- Freight is Properly Packaged
- Secured on pallets or skids
- Wrapped/strapped to avoid shifting or damage
- Able to be handled by forklift or pallet jack
- Freight is Clearly Labeled
- Shipping labels with destination, consignee name, and reference numbers
- Every pallet/skid should have labelling
- Bill of Lading (BOL) is Prepared
- Must be accurate and handed to the driver at pickup
- Includes weight, piece count, temperature needed and contact info
- Customs Documents (if cross-border) Are Complete
- Commercial invoice, PARS, packing list, etc.
- Documents must be submitted in advance if applicable
- Loading Dock is Clear and Accessible
- Dock must be open and able to accommodate our 53” truck
- Product must be pre-cooled to pre-heated to transit temperature
- Freight should be close to the dock to avoid delays
- Freight should be pulped to have documented temperature on file
- Staff is Present to Load
- Staff must be on-site to load the freight into the trailer
- Staff must be ready to provide paperwork and any instructions
- Time to Load
- For LTL freight should be fully loaded within 30 minutes, after 30 minute standard wait-time fees are applied.
- For LTL freight should be fully loaded within 2 hours, after 2 hours standard wait-time fees are applied.
